HARDESTY, Elmer Clinton - WWII

Elmer Clinton Hardesty, 61 of 1512 ½ S 2nd St. died at 12:19 p.m. Tuesday in Home Hospital, apparently of a heart attack. Born in Attica, he had spent most of his life at Lafayette. He had been employed as a mechanic supervisor for Tippecanoe School Corporation transportation department for the past four years. Prior to that, he was a self-employed mechanic. His marriage was in 1940 at Lafayette to Agnes L. Lewis who was formerly employed at Village Restaurant. Mr. Hardesty was a staff sgt. in the Army during WWII. He was a member of Delphi American Legion Post 75. Surviving with the widow are two sons, C. Gilbert Hardest of State Line, Ind and Dale L. Hardesty of Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Eva) Regich of Otterbein and Betty Hardesty of Lafayette; and four sisters, Miss Edna Hardesty, Miss Della Hardesty and Mrs. Katherine Lancaster all of Lafayette and Mrs. Martha Rotan of Montpelier. – kbz
