ATTICA — Bill Hardaway, 50, Attica, died at 11:38 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2007 in the emergency room of St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was born July 19, 1956 in Prineville, Ore. He married Mary C. (Booth) Switzer Aug. 27, 1974 in Woodbridge, Va. She survives. He was raised in California, attending Apple Valley High School. He had resided in Attica for the past 34 years. He was presently working as an electrician for C & D Battery Company in Attica, having just stepped down as the Union President. Prior to that he was a certified heating and cooling specialist. He had formerly worked with George H. Gobel at Auto Frost Refrigerants in Lafayette. He worked in marketing and technical support for the company, which was on the cutting edge of an environmentally safer refrigerant other than Freon, in automobiles and cooling systems. He was a member of the Attica First United Methodist Church and in his earlier years, he and Mary taught children's Sunday School class; a member of Moose Lodge #1482 of Attica; and a former member of Eagles Lodge #2596 of Attica. He had served as a volunteer fireman for the Attica Volunteer Fire Department. He formerly coached the Expos Farm League baseball team. He was a NASCAR fan with Dale Earnhardt Jr. being his favorite driver. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to camp, fish and golf. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid animal lover. Survivors, besides the wife, include: his father, Ellis "Pete” Hardaway, Glasgow, Mont.; his mother, Veebel (Cecil) Carr, Battiest, Okla.; a step son, Scot Switzer, Attica; three brothers, Leo (Janice) Hardaway, Mesa, Ariz., Kerry (Lisa) Hardaway, Bethel, Okla., and Lloyd (Shannon) Hardaway, Horatio, Ark.; two sisters, Jane (Loy) Dunlap, Cloudy, Okla. and Becky (Darrell) Dagenhart, Pickens, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
