ATTICA, Ind. (CNS) — Asa Alton Hanthorne, 65, 308 Market, died at 10 a.m. Saturday (March 28, 1970) at the Williamsport Community Hospital. He had been a patient since Tuesday. Born in Marshfield in Warren County, Dec. 3, 1904, he was the son of Joseph C. and Estella Ballah Hanthorne. He was married Nov. 29, 1934, at Paris, Ill., to Wreatha Harris. He had resided most of his life in Attica spending eight years in Danville, Ill. He attended Attica Schools and was employed in the maintenance department at Harrison Steel Casting Co. of Attica for a number of years. Since then, Mr. Hanthorne worked one year at Purdue University and also at Zenor Oil Co. and Kerkhove Standard Station. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Estella Mayhew of Attica; three sons, Ronald E. and Dennie, both of Stone Bluff, and Dean of Attica; a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Cynthia) Hightower of Linden; two brothers, Everett of Oklahoma and Harold of Attica; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Saunders, Mrs. Alta Thompson, Mrs. Eleanor Worth and Mrs. Laurentine Meharry, all of Attica; and nine grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Tuesday at the DeSutter Funeral Home with the Rev. Darold Hill officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
