HANNA, Edna Richardson Shute - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Edna A. Hanna of the Gessie-Rileysburg community, age 89, died Monday evening, December 7, in Covington Manor Health Center. She was born in Highland Township, Vermillion County, January 18, 1892, the daughter of Homer and Martha Hartman Richardson. In 1911, she married Harry Shute, who died in 1918. April 27, 1923, she married David Hanna, who died April 14, 1967. Mrs. Hanna was a member of Hopewell Methodist Church, Gessie Homemakers Club and Ladies Aid.

  Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Lois Hansen of RR 2, Covington, Mrs. June Adams of West Terre Haute, Mrs. Marie Samulowitz of Zionsville, Mrs. Jean Frazier of Danville, Mrs. Joan Dixon of Chrisman, Illinois, and Mrs. LaVerne Garretson of Mahomet, Illinois; a son, Dale Hanna of rural Perrysville; 27 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

  Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga with Rev. Richard Pippen officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery north of Gessie. – thanks to S
