He told The Commercial-News on his 90th birthday, that money was very tight during the depression. "But I had a chance to buy this piece of property -- 34 acres with a house and all for $5,600." Part of that property, he said, he later sold for $80,000. Hanna also had a wrecking business. He attended the United Brethren Church of Brewer Road. Hanna was born in Martin, a community in Lewis County, Ky., April 4, 1886, the son of David and Elizabeth Doyle Hanna. They were descended from old Scot and Irish pioneer families who settled in Kentucky between the 1790s and 1800s. He attended Vanceburg, Ky., area schools. He married Luzetta Hill in 1933 in Chicago. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Woodrow Wilson Hanna of Hyattsville, Md., and Howard Alva Hanna of Crete, Ill.; a brother, Cleve Hanna of Covington, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
