LAFAYETTE — William E. “Chuck”
Hancock Jr., 59, 1315 Sunset Drive, Lafayette, died at 11:01 a.m. Tuesday, July
11, 2006 at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past two years
due to diabetes. He was born in Rob Roy, Fountain County, Jan. 12, 1947, the
son of Ozina "Susie” (Crowder) Hancock Warner and the late William Elwood
Hancock Sr. He was raised in Attica, where he attended Attica High School. He
later received his GED in the service. He entered the service, serving in the
U. S. Army. He was a crew chief working as a helicopter mechanic. He served
three terms during the Viet Nam Conflict. He worked at Rowe Trucking Company as
a diesel mechanic for many year. He retired due to ill health. He was a life
member of the V.F.W. Post #1154 of Lafayette. He enjoyed shooting guns.
Survivors include: his mother of Lafayette; two sisters, Janet (John) Beck,
Indianapolis and Linda Doden, Elkins, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews. He
was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary Wright. Funeral services were at
1 p.m. Friday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Burial with military services were
in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be
made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Elizabeth Dialysis Center.
