HANCOCK, Daniel Jefferson - WWII

Daniel Jefferson Hancock, 70, who resided with a niece, Mrs. Thelma Isely, 1100 N. Third St., Attica, died 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Veterans Hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been hospitalized six weeks.

  He was born at Fountain on Aug. 5, 1904, son of George and Nancy Jane Brown Hancock. He formerly lived at Veedersburg and had been a resident of Attica over 20 years. He was married to Josephine Clawson. He attended Fountain school and had been a welder at Harrison Steel Castings Co. in Attica for over 40 years. He attended Fountain Christian Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.

  He is survived by one son, Richard Dwayne Hancock, Rt. 3, Veedersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Cruea, Covington; Mrs. Vina Rennick, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Stella Hudak, Stratford, Wis.; one brother, Ernest Wesley Hancock, Daleville; one grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

  Friends may call at the Dale Maus Funeral Home in Attica after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be held there in the chapel on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Don Green officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery with VFW graveside rites.
