HANCOCK, Catherine Cline

Mrs. Mary Catherine Cline Hancock, one of Mellott's oldest residents, died Monday morning at her home there at age 85 years. She had been in failing health since 1941 and seriously ill since Thursday.
Mrs. Hancock was born on June 30, 1858 in Mellott where she spent her entire life. She was married in 1879 to William Hancock, who died 3 years ago. To this union 5 children were born four of whom preceded her in death, a daughter who died in infancy and three sons, Clinton, Walter and Arthur who passed away a few years ago.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Eva Martin of Covington; two brothers, Joseph Cline of Flora and Richard Cline of Attica; and three sisters, Mrs. Susan Sutton of Stone Bluff, Mrs. Lou McClean of Flora and Mrs. Della Light of Terre Haute.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home in Mellott with Rev. Charles Howard of Veedersburg officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery.
