Source: "Obituaries - Year - 1950 Volume B" from the Covington Public Library. February 1957

A courageous eight month battle with cancer ended Wednesday for Dean Maxwell Hance, 43, minister of the West Liberty Church of Christ south of Covington.  He died at 12:40 a.m. at his home in the church parsonage.
Until the last few weeks the pastor preached on Sunday morning and made several trips to distant clinics in spite of word from local doctors last June that he had but six months to live.
He maintained until the last that he was "reaay to go if it was God's will."
A graduate of Danville High School, Mr. 'Hance attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary and was ordained in 1938 at the Second Chuich of Christ in Danville.  He served various pastorates, including one at Lowell, Indiana, Mill Creek, Indiana, Lebanon, Ohio, Georgetown, Illinois and West Liberty where he had been minister since 1954.
He was born June 19, 1913 at Scottland, Illinois, the son of David Lee and Lennie Mae Hurley Hance.  On July 3, 1934 he married the former Berdena Clark, who survives.  Also surviving are his mother of Danville; two sons, David of Covington, and Mark at home.  - jz
