Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, November 5, at 2 PM for Mrs. Josephine Wright (sic) Hampton, 85, who died at 6:55 AM on Sunday November 3 at her home on Route 2, Covington. Mrs. Hampton was a life resident of Highland Township, and was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. She was born August 30, 1872, the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Jane Wright Mitchell and was married on February 22, 1912 to Luther Hampton. Surviving are the husband and one sister, Mrs. Flora Young, also of Route 2 Covington. Three brothers, a sister, a niece, and three nephews, preceded her in death. Services were held at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Ray, pastor of the First Baptist Church of this city, and the Rev. C. R. Tallman officiated. Burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Alfred Thornsborough, Bill Dinsmore, Harold Swim, Cleve Hanna, Harold Dare, and Dwayne Craycraft.

Mrs. Josephine Wright Hampton, 85, died Sunday at her home near Covington.
A life resident of Highland Township, she was & member of the E. U. B. Church.
Born in 1872, the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Jane Wright Mitchell, she wed Luther Hampton in 1912.
Surviving are the husband and a sister, Mrs. Flora Young of Rt 2 Covington.
Services were held Tuesday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home.  Burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery.  - jz
