HAMBRIGHT, Clarence Leroy

Source: Kingman Star Friday, September 10, 1948

Clarence Leroy Hambright was born in Cates, Indiana on May 20, 1891, the son of David Franklin and Emma Foster Hambright. He was the youngest of seven children. On February 3, 1909 he was united in marriage to Charlotte May Riley. To this union was born six children. Two sons, Warren Orval and Arthur Leroy, preceded him in death, both dying in infancy.
Twenty three years ago he moved to this community. Seven years ago he was taken ill with heart trouble, being bedfast four months. He was a person of strong will, but realized his days of hard labor were over. Six years ago he came to Tangier, being appointed postmaster, which office he held the remainder of his time, serving faithfully. However, his well days were few, even though he carried on with a smile. A little more than a year ago, he took Jesus into his heart and accepted his ever loving care and guidance, and lived to carry on God’s wonderful teaching. He was chosen superintendent of the Sunday School, in which office he presided for only a short while. Sickness forced him to fortake even meeting in the Lord’s worship house with his friends, but the need of prayers was never forgotten. He possessed a cheerful disposition and made a host of friends.
On Tuesday evening, August 31, 1948, he was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis as a last resort to remain with those he loved. There he passed away quietly on the morning of September 1, 1948, at the age of 57 years, 3 months and 11 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow; a son, Walter, Perrysville; three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Kempe and Catherine Hambright of Indianapolis and Mrs. Mildred Jones, Boswell. Also one sister, Katherine Hambright of Crawfordsville; one brother, George Hambright of Covington; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. His parents, two brothers, two sisters with the two little sons preceded him in death.
Mr. Hambright leaves a vacancy to the community that will be hard to fill, and he will be sadly missed, but he left the consolation with his family and friends that all was well with his soul and he was prepared to go. -  thanks to S&E
