Jesse E. Hamblen, 92, of Williamsport, died Friday May 4, 1973 at Community Hospital in Williamsport. He had been in ill health one month. He was born in Brown county, Hamblen Township, which was settled by his grandfather, on Dec 13, 1880. His parents were Joseph F and Josephine Dorwin Hamblen. He had lived in Warren County mostof his life, residing in Williamsport since 1942. He was first married in 1905 in Warren county to Elmira Elizabeth Lewis, who preceded him in death in 1950. In 1954 he was married in Rockville to Lillie May Toop, who preceded him in death in 1971. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Williamsport Methodist church and was a 50 year member of the Indiana Farm Bureau. He is survived by one son, Joseph L. Hamblen, Rt. 4, Attica; five daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Bertha Louise) Luntz, Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Beverly (Opal) Watkins, Rt 1, Williamsport; Miss Viola Hamblen, Attica; Mrs. William (Josephine) Pickrell, Williamsport. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One daughter and one grandson preceded him in death. Funeral service at the Fisher Funeral Home i Williamsport with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial in Highland Cemetery. Imagine Joseph Lewis Hamblen is their son born 1916 Indiana died Danville, Il 12-31-1992 buried Mt. Hope @ Covington IN

WILLIAMSPORT, Ind. (CNS) -- Jesse E. Hamblen, 92, of 105 Third, died at Community Hospital in Williamsport at 4:40 p.m. Friday (May 4, 1973). He had been ill a month. Born in Hamblen Township of Brown County, Dec. 13, 1880, he was the son of Joseph F. and Josephine Corwni Hamblen. He was married in 1905 in Warren County to Elmira Elizabeth Lewis who died in 1950. In 1954 he married Lillie Mae Toops in Rockville, who died in 1971. He had lived in Warren County most of his life and a resident of Williamsport since 1942. He was a retired farmer. He was a 50-year member of the Williamsport Farm Bureau and a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Joseph L. of Attica Route 4; five daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Bertha Louise) Kuntz of Peoria, Ill., Mrs. Estelle (Mable) Holloway of Harvey, Ill., Mrs. Beverly (Opal) Watkins of Williamsport Route 1, Miss Viola Hamblen of Attica and Mrs. William (Josephin) Pickrell of Williamsport; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and a grandson. Services will be at the Fisher Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.
