Felix Columbus Ham, the subject of this sketch was the s/o John and Sally Ham. He was born in Jackson Twp. near Wallace, Indiana July 31, 1854. He grew to manhood and spent most of his life in Fountain Co. At the age of 20 he was married to Martha Jane Keller. To this union 3 children were born: Austin, Lorenzo and Alonzo all survive him. His wife preceded him in death June 8, 1900. After being left alone he still remained in his home community living with his children until Aug 4, 1904, when he was again married Minnie Sowers. To this union one child was born, little Opal Leora. Shortly after his second marriage he became afflicted with canceral malady which he has been almost a constant sufferer ever since. When a boy of 15 he was taken into the United Brethren Church by Rev. Sindset. But when he realized that medical science and loving hands had done all in their power and could not check the dreaded disease, he wanted to renew his Christian faith in the same church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Ada May 10,1907. After making peace with his god, he patiently and in a Christian manner, awaited deaths summon, which called him Thursday evening July 4,1 907 at the age of 52 years 11 months and 3 days. He bore his suffering with patience, having a loving smile and a kind word for each and every one. By this death the communist loses a kind neighbor, the wife a devoted companion, and the children a loving father. Besides leaving a wife, four children, two step daughters and aged mother, four grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers and numerous friends and relatives to mourn his loss. It being his request the funeral was held by Brother McHargue of Kingman Sat at 11:00 o'clock Centennial Church at Yeddo. Interment in cemetery nearby.
