Born July 22, 1913 in Hillsboro, he was the son of William W. and Nancy Yokley Hale. He was married Feb. 5, 1935 to Eva Noble, who survives.
Mr. Hale had resided in Covington since 1935 and was a former resident of Danville. He had operated the Hale Service Station and Triple A road Service for many years. He also had driven a school bus for many years, retiring in January 1977.
Serving as Covington fire chief for several years, he had helped organize the Tri-County Fireman’s Association. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Fountain Masonic Lodge 60 and Troy Chapter 145 Order of Eastern Star.
Other survivors include two sons, William of Covington Route 3 and Michael of Covington Route 2; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Janet) Alexander of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Mary Olean Cooke of Danville; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. James Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends were received after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the family present for 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday. Masonic services were there at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
The family has requested that any memorials be in the form of donations to the First Church of Christ.-s
