Veedersburg - Richard F Gustus, 76 of Veedersburg died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday in United Samaritan Medical Center, Sager Campus at Danville, Ill. following a three-year-illness. Mr. Gustus had formerly worked as a movie projectionist with the messner and Devon Theaters in Attica and with Illiana Drive-in and Fischer Theaters in Danville.  He later went into farming in Millcreek Township from 1959 until retirement in 1982. He had lived in rural Hillsboro since 1964.  He was a member of New Liberty Christian Church and American Legion Post 288 at Veedersburg. He was a 1938 graduate of Attica HS and attended Iowa State University and the University of Chicago.  He was an Aviation Electrician's Mate First Class in the Navy in WWII.  He was born Dec 5, 1920 at Attica to Floyd E. and Lena WHite Gustus. He married Marian F. Stockdale March 16, 1957 near Hillsboro. She survives.  Survivors include four brothers: Howard, George and Jerry, all of Attica and William of Tucson Ariz; several nieces and nephews. His parents, four brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday in Maus Funeral Home at Hillsboro with Rev. Richard Throckmorton officiating. Burial will b ein Waynetown Masonic Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or the New Liberty Christian Church.
