NEWTOWN — Josephine (Newman)
Grubb, 90, longtime resident of Newtown, died at 12:05, p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4,
2007 following a short illness in St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville.
She was born June 23, 1917 in
Veedersburg, the daughter of Joseph Sylvester and Blanche (Boord) Newman. She
married Leslie Clark Grubb May 1, 1937 in Stone Bluff. He preceded in death
Jan. 9, 1994. She had celebrated her 90th birthday this past June with a large
party attended by many family members and friends. She was a graduate of
Veedersburg High School. She and her husband spent their married life in
Newtown as well as wintering in Homestead, Fla. She was a longtime member of
the Newtown Community Church and for many years served as organist, she also
served as organist for a community church while wintering in Fla. She was a
member of O.E.S. Richland Lodge #282 and Pythian Sisters. Her family, music and
church were forefront in life. Survivors include: a daughter, Beverly 'Bea'
(Jerry) Wagoner, Hillsboro; four sons, Allen (Judy) Grubb, Georgetown, Ill.,
Jim (Janet) Grubb, St. Augustine, Fla., Tom (Cheryl) Grubb, Sullivan, and
Robert (Angie) Grubb, Newtown; a brother, Joe Newman, Hillsboro; two sisters,
Lois (Bill) Mitton, Waynetown and Barbara (Dick) Ludlow, Covington; 11
grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a
granddaughter, Lori Grubb and two sisters, Frances Ingersoll and Anna Lou
Crider. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday in the Newtown Community Church
with Pastor Mike Parks officiating. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery near
Wingate. Family & Friends Funeral Home, Wingate, was in charge of
arrangements. The family requests memorial contributions may best be made to
