ATTICA, Ind. — John P. Gross, 80, of Kramer, died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 1971 at the Community Hospital in Williamsport. He had been admitted there earlier in the day and had been in ill health for two years. Born Oct. 20, 1890, near Talbott, he was the son of John and Frances Gross. He had been a resident of Benton County before coming to Kramer 40 years ago. He was married Oct. 22, 1917, at Dunnington to Gladys Farrell, who survives. Mr. Gross had been a farmer. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Forresters. Other survivors include two sons, Dr. J. E. Gross of Lebanon and John of Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. S. C. Gilham of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Thomas O'Toole of Lancaster, Ohio; a brother, Anthony of Florida; a sister, Mrs. Annie Wagoner of Springfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and two step grandchildren. A son, Francis, and two brothers preceded him in death. Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Xavier Church. The Rev. Edward Matuszak officiated. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery at Attica. --waw
