Harry J. “Hap” Gross of Danville, Illinois, age 85, died Wednesday evening, September 8, in Lakeview Medical Center at Danville. He was born at Danville, Jun 7, 1897, the son of Edward and Mary Cassidy Gross. He first married Alma Norris, who died in October of 1972. December 2, 1973, he married Elsie Juvinall, who survives. Gross was a machinist with the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad before retiring in 1962. He was a member of Old Rails and New Ties and the Machinists Local.
Also surviving are two daughters, Hazel Gouty of Covington and June Trombly of Wheatland, California; two sons, Stanley and Robert, both of Covington; a stepdaughter, Virginia Nungester of Catlin, Illinois; two stepsons, Wilbur Juvinall of Danville and Paul Juvinall of Catlin; two sisters, Mabel Zillman and Ellen Williams, both of Danville; a brother, Howard of Gary; 16 grandchildren, several step grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Barrick & Son Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Kenneth Hayse officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington.
