Benjamin H. Groce, 71, of Hillsboro, who had been under observation at the Carle Clinic in Urbana, Ill., the past week, died at 4 p.m. Sunday. His death was unexpected.
Born Oct. 2, 1888, in Kentucky the son of Jacob and Olive Ferrel Groce, he was married Dec. 18, 1910, in Glasgow, Ky., to Flora Smith, who survives.  They moved to Indiana 46 years ago and had been residents of this community for a number of years.  He has been engaged in farming and was a member of the Prairie Creek Baptist Church near Veedersburg.
Surviving besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Bowers of Mt. Carmel, Ill., and Mrs. Gladys Cable of Danville, Ill.; four sons, Sam of Downers Grove; Harry and Gene both of Veedersburg and Harold of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; five brothers, Marion, Simon, Pleasant, Greene and James all of Albany, Ky.; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was held at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Harry Hybarger of Rockville officiating.  Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.  -0 jz
