VEEDERSBURG – An elderly Bloomington area man and woman were killed and a Kingman youth was seriously injured Thursday in a two-car collision near east of here. Killed in the crash were Lester Grissom, 77, of Rt. 4, Bloomington, and Bernadette Grissom, 74, also of Rt. 4, Bloomington. They were the only occupants of one of the vehicles involved. Traveling along in the other automobile was 19-year-old Stanley Smith of Kingman. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville. Ill., where he was listed in fair condition at noon. The youth sustained a fractured right leg and lacerations and abrasions to his face and body. State police said the accident occurred at 8:10 a.m. at the intersection of U. S. 136 and U. S. 41. Investigating officers said the auto occupied by the Grissoms was traveling east on 136, apparently stopped at the stop sign and then pulled into the path of the Smith auto which was headed south on 41. The Smith car struck the Grissom auto broadside. It was not immediately determined who was driving the latter vehicle. Two Kalamazoo, Mich., women died Wedneday when their car crashed head-on into a second auto on Indiana 13, about three miles south of North Webster in Kosciusko County. Police said the victims were Edith Huizenga, 62, driver of the first car, and her passenger, Evelyn Kirsch, 64. Grace E. Farris, 56, of Knox died Tuesday night at a Valparaiso hospital of injuries suffered in a one-car accident on rain-slick Indiana 8 five miles east of Knox. – jlr
