GRIMES, Walter Earl

Covington – Walter Earl Grimes, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Grimes, drowned Wednesday afternoon about 3 p.m. while swimming with four companions in the Lake of the Woods, between Covington and Cayuga. Coroner Howard Watson of Cayuga said the youth’s heart had failed from exhaustion. Grimes companions were Robert Hambright, William Doane, Gene Patton and Glenn Ohle. The youth is survived by his parents and two sisters, Pvt. Martha Grimes at Camp Kilmer, NJ and Emma Jean at home.  The Rev. Arthur Schwabe of Mount Hope will officiate at funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. at the Grimes residence.  Shelby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. - kbz
