Waynetown - Emma Jane Grimes, 84, widow of Charles A. Grimes, died Thursday morning in a Logansport Hospital. She had been in failing health five years and seriously ill one month. Born Dec. 6, 1873, in Fountain County, three miles north of Wallace, Mrs. Grimes was the daughter of John and Clarinda Philpott Livengood. She married Mr. Grimes Sept. 19, 1891 at Hillsboro. The husband died Aug. 6, 1938. Mr. and Mrs. Grimes began housekeeping on a farm near Hillsboro where they lived until Mr. Grimes death. Mrs. Grimes continued her residence there until 1943 when she moved to Crawfordsville. Her home in Crawfordsville was at 701 S. Washington St. Mrs. Grimes as a member of the First Christian Church in Crawfordsville. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Helen Grimes of Waynetown; a sister, Mrs. Edna Munns, also of Waynetown; a brother, Omer Livengood of near Hillsboro, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown. Burial will be at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rev. John R. Servies will be the officiating minister. Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Jane Grimes, 84, widow of Charles A. Grimes, formerly of near Hillsboro, was held at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown Saturday afternoon with the Rev. John Servies of Crawfordsville officiating.  Burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Grimes died at a Logansport Hospital after being seriously ill for a month.  Born December 6, 1873, south of Hillsboro, the daughter of John and CClarinda Philpott Livengood, she was married to Charles Grimes September 18, 1891 and he died August 6, 1938.  All of their married life was spent in this vicinity and she moved to Crawfordsville in 1943.  Survivors are a daughter, Miss Helen Grimes, and a sister, Mrs. Edna Munns of Waynetown and a brother, Omer Livengood of Hillsboro. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Crawfordsville.  - jz
