Covington—Lorene Grieves, 77, formerly of Route 2, Williamsport, died at 8:25 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 1989 at Covington Manor Health Care Center.
She was born June 27, 1911 at Eldorado, Ill., the daughter of Edwin and Sarah Ponder Scott. She was married Nov. 5, 1953 to John Grieves, who preceded her in death March 29, 1971.
She had been a resident of Covington 32 years and formerly lived in Danville, Ill., and was a nurses’ aide at Tall Trees Nursing Home.
Surviving are three brothers, Kenneth Hatton, Danville; Alvin Hatton, Sacramento, Calif., and Raymond Hatton, Phoenix, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Mary Ann Griffin, Phoenix, and three stepdaughters. Darlene Gard and Marlene Sexton, both of Mooreland, Ind., and Marjorie Rhyndress of Florida. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Paul Kent officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington. – thanks to S
