HILLSBORO – John Vernon Greer, 90, of Hillsboro died Friday evening at Culver Hospital. He was born at Eugene, Ind., on Nov. 5, 1874, to James Austin and Martha Greer. He was married to Florence Ethel Switzer Oct. 15, 1900 at Newport. She preceded him in death in 1948. Mr. Greer was a resident here for 30 years after moving from Parke County. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Hopewell Quaker Church and of the Modern Woodmen of America. Survivors include a son, Richard E. of Rosedale; a sister, Mrs. Faye Pierson of Mexico, Mo., two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Sunday. – jlr
