Lawrence C. Greenley, 66-year-old retired U. S. Army colonel and a former resident of the Veedersburg community, died at 1:30 a. m. Sunday, Feb. 18, in the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. He had been hospitalized 12 days and had been in failing health since 1952. He had suffered a number of strokes. Mr. Greenley was born Oct. 22, 1895, near Veedersburg, the son of Edward and Olive Carch Greenley. He was married May 10, 1924 to Marie Hershberger of Veedersburg, who survives. He was a veteran of World War I, World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1953 and had lived in Indianapolis since that time. A graduate of Veedersburg High School and Wabash College, he served as athletic coach at Veedersburg High School for a number of years. He was a member of the Veedersburg Legion Post 288, New Century EUB Church and was a 25-year member of the Veedersburg Masonic Lodge. Surviving in addition to his wife are: a daughter, Mrs. Donna Richardson of Newport News, Va.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. The Rev. J. Samuel Pritchard officiated and burial was in the Rockfield Cemetery, southeast of Veedersburg. --typed by Walt W
