Word was received of the recent death of R. B. Green of Washington, D.C. Mr. Green, restaurant owner for 25 years, died of a heart attack Palm Sunday at his home, 1216 Massachusetts Avenue, N. W.
Mr. Green came to the District 30 years ago from his birthplace, Coolame, North Carolina. In 1931 he was married to the former Mildred Hendrix, daughter of Mrs. Jane Hendrix of this city.
He was active in the Mount Vernon Place Methodist Church where he was president of a Bible class taught by the late Judge Bolitha Laws. Later he served on a special committee set up by Judge Laws to study the administration of justice.
He was also a member of the Mid-City Citizens Association and the Knights Templar Lodge.
He leaves his wife, Mildred H. Greene, two sons, Roosevelt B. Jr. and John Philip and a daughter, Dixie G. Yeatman, all of Washington, D.C. Another daughter, Mrs. Jane Hamlin of Chicago, Illinois, and four grandchildren, his mother and several brothers and sisters.
Services were held at the Mount Vernon Church, 900 Massachusetts Avenue N. W., with burial in Fort Lincoln Cemetery. - jz
