Attica, Ind. - Joseph H. Green, 81, f 800 E. Jackson, died at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday (Jan 19, 1972) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. He had been a patient there since Dec. 30, 1971, and had been ill for some time. Born at Alvin, Ill., Feb 26, 1890, he was the son of Hugh and Amanda Jones Green. He married Sophia VanDame Feb 16, 1916, at Attica, who survives. A former resident of Carbondale, Ill., and Williamsport, he had resided in Attica since 1944. A retired farmer, he was a veteran of World War I, serving in the Army. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Attica and American Legion Post in Williamsport. Survivors also include a son, Robert of Attica; a daughter, Mrs Clara Lawrence of Los, Angeles, Calif.; five grand children and two great-grand children.Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Saturday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with the Rev. Edward Matuzak officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Maus Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Friday. Rosary will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
