Mabel C. Gray, 305 DuBois Ave., died Friday morning at Culver Hospital. Prior to becoming ill several years ago Mrs. Gray had for many years been active in a number of Crawfordsville civic, fraternal and church organizations. In recent years she had become known for her work in genealogy and had served as historian and genealogy chairman for the Dorothy Q Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Gray was born in Veedersburg on June 15, 1891, the daughter of Mark and Myrtle Hershberger. The family moved to Crawfordsville when she was a small girl and she attended the Crawfordsville schools. She was married on June 15, 1911, to Harold L. Gray, who survives. Mrs. Gray was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Athens chapter 97. She also was a member of the ladies of Scottish Rite and 33rd degree Masons. She attended the First Methodist Church and participated in WSCS and other church activities. She was a charter member of the Crawfordsville Home Demonstration Chorus, and a member of the Crawfordsville Music Club. Mrs. Gray belonged to the Antique Study Group, and was registered as a genealogist with the Indiana Historical Society. Surviving in addition to the husband are three children, Mark R. Gray of Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Virginia J. Haney of this city, and Mrs. Greta Domenic of Elwood. Also surviving are a brother, Louis M. Hershberger, and a sister, Mrs. Vernice McBride, both of this city. Other survivors are seven grandchildren, M. Robert Gray of Fort Wayne, W. Daniel Gray in the U. S. Marines, Dr. W. Patrick Haney, Denver, Colo., H. Ryan Haney in the U. S. Army, and Matthew, Bryn and Dru Domenic of Elwood. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m., at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday. --- typed by Walt W

Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel C. Gray were held Monday morning at Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Little officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the floral tributes were Pat Haney, Ryan Haney, Danny Gray, Bob Gray, grandsons of the deceased, and Mark Hershberger and David McBride. Selections were played on the organ by Mrs. O. C. Edwards. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren. --- typed by Walt W
