John Arnet, the little son of John S. and Susie Grey, died at his home three miles northwest of Alamo of brain fever, Thursday, Aug. 13, 1896, after an illness of about forty eight hours, at the age of six months, four weeks and one day. He leaves a father, mother, one brother and one sister to mourn his loss. The remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery on Friday at 11 o’clock followed by a concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. The pallbearers were Misses Mamie Myers, Stella Allen, Hettie Heath and Lula Grimes. Little Arnet was an exceptionally bright and pleasant child, loved and cherished by his parents to whom the sad messenger of death was a shock that only they who have passed through the dreadful ordeal can realize. While all temporal ties are broken and prospects blighted, yet there is blessed consolation for the bereaved in that his present situation is better and happier than theirs, and that there will be a sweet reunion by and by.
