Yeddo – Injured in a traffic accident at a county road intersection near here, Edward S. Gray 77 of RFD 2, Veedersburg died in an ambulance at Covington Thursday afternoon en route to a Danville, Ill hospital. Gray, a farmer, was injured when his automobile collided with a milk truck driven by Raman Cook, 37 of 120 Wisconsin Street, Danville, Ill. The accident occurred at a crossroads four miles east of here. Gray was driving south and Cook west at the time of the accident. The truck driver, who is employed by the Beatrice Creamery company of Danville escaped injury. Immediately after the accident a physician was called and after first aid was given Gray was started for St. Elizabeth’s hospital in the Spencer ambulance. Just after the ambulance passed over the Wabash River bridge on St Rd 34 at Covington the accident victim died. Howard Walton of Cayuga, Vermillion County coroner was called to investigate due to the fact that the ambulance had just entered Vermilion County when death occurred. State Policeman Robert E. Morgan of Crawfordsville also investigated the accident. He did not hold Cook. Mr. Gray was born Sept 17, 1868 at Laconia, in Brown County. He was the son of Henry and Sybil Brown Gray. He was married many years ago to Mary Koentzer. They moved to a farm near Veedersburg about 30 years ago. The survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Helean Death of Hillsboro and a son, Sgt Edward Gray who is at an army replacement center in San Antonio, Tex.
