Edith Marie Gray, 74, formerly of rural Waynetown, died at 7:16 p.m. Tues (April 22) in Glenhaven (Iowa) Nursing Home. Mrs. Gray was a retired nurse at R.R. Donnelley & Sons after 19 years. She was a member of Wallace Christian Church and a former member of Alamo 498 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a 1940 graduate of Wallace and a 1943 graduate of Lakeview School of Nursing. She was born April 23, 1922 in Fountain County, to Leo & Ruby Sowers. She married Raymond J. Gray January 16, 1945 who prreceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, John D. of Glenwood, Iowa, Patrick L. of Knoxville, Tenn and Kenon W. of New Castle; two brothers Eugene of Wallace and Robert of Florida; two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Shoemaker Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. James Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Edith Marie Gray, 74, of Waynetown Rt 1, died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday April 22, 1997 at Glenhaven Nursing Home, Glenwood, Iowa. Born April 23, 1922 in Fountain County, she was the daughter of Leo and Ruby Sowers. Her marriage was to Raymond J. Gray on Jan 16, 1945. He preceded her in death. Surviving are: 3 sons: John D (Mary) Gray of Glenwood, Iowa; Patrick L (Debbie) Gray of Knoxville, Tenn and Kenon W. (Adalu) Gray of New Castle; two brothers, Eugene Sowers of Wallace and Robert Sowers of Florida; two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren. She was a 1940 graduate of Wallace HS and 1943 graduate of Lakeview School of Nursing. She was a retired nurse from RR Donnelley & Co. after 19 years and prior to that she worked at Culver Hospital in Crawforsdville. She was a member of Wallace Christian Church and a former member of Alamo OES #498. Visitation was Saturday at Shoemaker Funeral in Wayentown. Services were there on Sunday with Rev. James Daniel officiating. Interment in Wallace Lutheran Cemetery.
