WAYNETOWN- Cooper E. Gray, 82, lifetime resident and farmer of 1 1/2 miles southeast of here, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday in Lakeview Hospital at Danville, Ill., after a four months' illness. He was born in the Wesley neighborhood east of Waynetown July 21, 1876, to James and Mary Ann Heath Gray, and attended schools at Poplar Ridge and Waynetown. He was married May 15, 1902, to Alice M. Gray at Marshalltown, Iowa. Mr. Gray was a member of the Christian Union Church east of here and of Waynetown Masonic Lodge No. 302. He served on the township advisory board in 1913 and was active for years in the triple-A. Surviving besides the widow are three daughter, Misses Dorothy and Frances Gray, Indianapolis school teachers, and Mrs. J. Edgar Hartigan of Denver, Colo., and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Servies Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Rev. John Servies will officiate, assisted by Rev. Guy Tremaine. WAYNETOWN- Funeral services for Cooper E. Gray were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Servies Funeral Home, Rev. John R. Servies officiated, assisted by Rev. Guy E. Tremaine. Pallbearers were Max Stockdale, Donald Moore, Willis Schenck, Keith Schenck, Edgar Henthorn and Ray Thompson. Mrs. Anna Grenard played organ music. Masonic rites were held at the funeral home and cemetery. Paul Hood, acting master, officiated and was assisted by Harold Bratton and Donald Proctor. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. - kbz
