WINGATE, Ind. (CNS) — Claude A. Gray, 89, of Wingate, a retired farmer, died at 1:30 a.m. Monday (March 5, 1973) at the Small Rest Home in Waynetown. He had resided there since March of 1969 and had suffered a fractured hip Jan. 29 and had been hospitalized until recently. Born Sept. 16, 1883, near Kingman, he was the son of John and Rebecca Atkinson Gray. In June of 1907, he married Viola Jolley, who died in June of 1969. He attended rural schools in Parke and Fountain counties and was a member of the Center Christian Church north of Elmdale. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Warner of Lafayette and Mrs. Mary E. Busenbark of near Lebanon; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Milard, two brothers and four sisters. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Wednesday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with the Rev. Hugh Dooley officiating. Burial will be in Meharry Cemetery north of Wingate. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
