Carl Gray, 76, a retired farmer of the Newtown community, died Sunday (April 25, 1971) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. He had been admitted Tuesday for surgery. Born Sept. 1, 1894, a mile northeast of Newtown, he was the son of Elwood and Anna Quigle Gray. He attended Newtown schools and was married June 5, 1937 to Bernis Witt, who survives. They moved to Newtown from the farm in 1963. He was a member and a past elder of the Presbyterian Church, a member of the Richland Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star and Farm Bureau. Services Tuesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Walter Williams and the Rev. George Phelps officiated. Burial in Newtown Cemetery. - jlr
