GRAVES. Orville Kilburn - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Orville Kilburn Graves son of James Leonard and Serena Graves born May 19, 1876 in Vermillion County, Illinois died at his home in Tangier, Indiana at 1:45 p.m. March 23, 1950 aged 73 years after an illness of three years.  He was married to Miss Lillie Snyder, Dec 17, 1899 and the young couple went to housekeeping near Westville where they lived three years, moving from there to a farm of their own between Cates and Silverwood which was their home for many years.  When Mr. Graves’ health failed three years ago they moved to Tangier where they purchased a home.  They were the parents of three children: Russell; Donnie and a daughter, Viola May who preceded him in death as did two sisters.  Mrs. Graves was a member of the Baptist Church and lived a quiet, unassuming Christian life, taking his place in the community until his health failed.  He was a kind husband, father and grandfather.  On last Dec 17 Mr. and Mrs. Graves celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and although very ill he was happy to have his family with him.  Throughout all his long illness he has been patient and uncomplaining and has won the admiration of friends and neighbors by his brave acceptance of his suffering.  He is survived by his widow, who has given him constant care, a son, Russell Graves of Greencastle, a daughter Mrs. Donnis Lamb of Crawfordsville, six grandchildren, a brother, Clarence Graves of Tangier, other relatives and many friends by whom he will be sadly missed and who will long cherish his memory.  – thanks to Bren M for sending this one –     ~~~Transcribed and Type by kbz
