Velma Lucille Graves, 77, died at 6:20 a.m. Mon. in Covington Manor Health Care Center, where she had been a resident for the past 2 years. Mrs. Graves was a homemaker. She was a life res. of the Cates & Veedersburg. areas. She was a member of Osborn Prairie Church and Yeddo Chapter 313 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was b. June 9, 1920, near Cates to Glen & Effie Simpkins Barker. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Townsend and Jean Haga; two sons, Steve & Dean; a twin sister, Thelma Wells; and three brothers, Harrell Lee Barker; Austin E. "Buzz" Barker and Robert G. Barker; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Cash. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wed. in Shelby Fun. Home at Covington with the Rev. Richard Byers, Sr. officiating. Bur in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the fun. home with Eastern Star Services held at 7 p.m.
