ATTICA — Thomas Hirsch Grant,
75, Attica, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 in Home Hospital,
Lafayette. He was born Aug. 13, 1931 in Chicago, Ill., the son of William
Charles and Lucille (Hirsch) Grant. He married Elizabeth A. Fix Aug. 19, 1951 in
Riverside. She survives. He grew up in Attica, graduating from Attica High
School in 1949. He had lived most of his life in Attica. He worked for the U.
S. Postal Service in Attica for 37 years as a carrier. At the time of his
retirement he served as a clerk for the post office. He served his country by
enlisting in the Indiana National Guard, where he served a term of six years.
He attended the Attica First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the
National Rifle Association and former president of the Attica Fish & Game
Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He was a die hard Chicago
White Sox fan and enjoyed Purdue sports. He dearly loved his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Survivors, besides the wife, include: two sons, Greg (JoAnn)
Grant and Larry (Tammy) Grant, both of Attica; two sisters, Judith (James)
Auter, Lafayette and Mary (Kenneth) Brown, Attica; seven grandchildren, Jamie
Grant, Mary Haste, Amelia Grant, Amanda Jean, Ryan, Seth and Ashlee Grant; and
three great-grandchildren, Ashton and Carter Grant and Natalee Jean. He was
preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Grace Nicole Grant.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) in Maus Funeral Home,
Attica. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with
the Rev. George Weister officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery,
Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. – jlr
