Carl (Shorty) Grammer Sr., 73, of Attica Route 2, died at 8 p. m. Tuesday Aug. 3, 1976 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. He had been hospitalized for six weeks. Born Aug. 10, 1902, in Murphysboro, Ill., he had attended school there and had been a resident of Attica since 1920. In December 1925 in Attica, he married Naomi Knowles, who died in 1965. He had been a welder at Harrison Steel Castings Co. for 50 years. He was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include three sons, Carl Jr. of Ft. Myers, Fla., John of Attica Route 2 and DeMoyne of Hurst, Texas; a brother Fay of Murphysboro, and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p. m. Friday at the Dale Maus Funeral Chapel with Rev. Everett White officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery east of Attica. The family has requested any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Fountain County Cancer Society.  --typed by Walt W

Attica – Carl “Shorty” Grammar Sr, 73, Rt 2, Attica died at 8 p.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette where he had been a patient six weeks. Born in Murphreysboro, Ill, he had resided in Attica since 1920.  His marriage in 1925 was to Naomi Knowles, who died in 1955.  Mr. Grammar was a retired welder at the Harrison Steel Co where he had worked for 50 years.  He was a charter member of the Attica Eagles Lodge. Surviving are three sons, Carl, Jr of Fort Myers, Fla; John of Rt 2, Attica and DeMoyne of Hurst, Tex and a brother, Jay of Murphreysboro.

“Funeral Notice” – Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica.  Service there at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Everett White officiating and interment in Salem Cemetery east of Attica.  Those desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Fountain County Cancer Society.
