Veedersburg— Edward Grady, 74, a retired rural mail carrier and police officer and life resident of the Veedersburg community, died at 9 p. m. Wednesday (Apr. 4, 1951) at the Small Nursing Home at Waynetown following a stroke suffered a week ago. He had been a patient at the nursing home about six weeks after breaking his collar bone in a fall. Mr. Grady was born Dec. 1, 1879 on a farm near Veedersburg the son of Garrett and Emily Isley Grady. He was married in 1909 to Ida Little who preceded him in death in February 1943. Surviving are three nephews, Ray Grady of Phoenix, Ariz., Gerald Grady of Veedersburg and William Grady of Yeddo. He was a member of the Veedersburg Christian Church and the Veedersburg Masonic lodge. The body is at the Fishero Funeral Home where it will remain for services at 2 p. m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Bonebrake Cemetery. --typed by Walt W

Edward (Ned) Grady, 74 years old, a native of Fountain county where he had spent virtually all of his life, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday April 4 1951, at the Small Nursing Home in Waynetown. He had been a patient there several weeks, following a fall on the ice on Feb. 14 on Railroad avenue. He had suffered s light stroke Sunday morning. Ned was born on Dec 1 1876, the son of Garrett and Emily Isley Grady, residents of Millcreek and later of VanBuren township. He was married in 1909, his wife Ida, passing away on Feb 17 1943. He farmed part of his life, at one time owning farms near Veedersburg and Crawfordsville. He was a lineman for the telephone company at one time and also operated the pumping station for the Peoria & Eastern railway. he was a member of the Christian Church and the Masonic lodge. Until late years he had served for a lengthy period as justice of the peace in Veedersburg. Besides his wife, two brothers, Harry and Hardy Grady, and a sister, Mrs. Dora Edmonds, the latter of Canada, preceded Mr. Grady in death. Surviving are three nephews, Gerald of Veedersburg, William of Yeddo, Raymond of Phoenix, Ariz., and a niece Mrs. Thelma Turnbull of Sinlac, Saskatchewan, Canada. Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fishero Funeral Home. Rev. Fred Chelan will conduct the service, with burial in the Bonebrake cemetery. --- thanks to Betty D for this one
