Vernon (Jack) Gouty, 71, life resident of Covington and community, died at 7:30 a. m., Saturday, May 11, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, where he had been a patient for 17 days. He had been in ill health for 5 years and seriously ill the past month. He was born April 15, 1886, in Highland Township, Vermillion County, to Daniel and Louella Sparks Gouty. He was married to Marie Martin on Jan. 27, 1929, and she survives. He was a member of the State Line Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Schlensker of Danville and Mrs. Mary Stump of Valparaiso, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Monday, May 13, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Glenn Ray and the Rev. C. R. Tallman officiated and burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery. --typed by Walt W

Services were held at 2:30 pm. Monday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home for Vernon (Jack) Gouty who died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville.
He had been a patient 17 days and in ill health five years. The Rev. Glenn Ray and the Rev. C. R, Tallman officiated with burial in Lower Mound Cemetery.
He was born April 15, 1886 in Holland Township, Vermillion County, Ind., the son of Daniel and Louella Sparks Gouty. He was married to Marie Martin, Jan. 27, 1929. Mr, Gouty was a member of State Line Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Schlesker of Danville and Mrs. Mary Stump of Valparaiso, Ind., several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers and a sister. - jz
