COVINGTON — Keith V. Gouty, 67, Covington, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 in Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, Zephyrhills, Fla. He was born Jan. 13, 1940 in Danville, Ill., the son of Earl and Verneta (Furr) Gouty. He married Shirley K. Williams Nov. 11, 1962 in the West Lebanon Christian Church. She survives. He was a life resident of Covington, was raised by his grandmother Etta Gouty and graduated from Covington High School in 1959. After graduating from high school he served a tour of duty in the United States Navy. He was first employed by Harrison Steel Casting Co. in Attica where he was a welder. After leaving there he went to work for Hyster Fork Lifts as a welder and worked his way up until he reached the position of service manager for General Motors North America Team. He retired after 37 years of loyal service. After retiring he loved spending time in his workshop doing small engine repairs and especially spending time with his grandsons. He was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church, Fountain Lodge #60 F. & A.M. and Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute. He was known for being an avid fisherman who loved life and family. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends who knew no kinder person. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Tina M. (Randy) Drummond, Covington; a son, Brian (Pamela) Gouty, Dade City, Fla.; a brother, Robert (Hazel) Gouty, Zapata, Texas; a half sister, Peggy Gouty, Hawaii; a step brother, David Gouty, Hawaii; and three grandchildren, Eric and Travis Drummond, and Hunter Gouty. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and step mother, Bernice Gouty. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington, with military honors by the V.F.W. and American Legion. – jlr
