Elias Gouty, 81-year-old resident of the Hillsboro area for about 30 years, died Saturday night, March 12, in the Ingram Nursing Home in Covington. Mr. Gouty and his wife, Maude, had lived in the nursing home for more than one and a half years. He was born March 5, 1879, the son of Elias and Elizabeth Shoot Gouty. He was married to the former Maude Allen. Surviving, in addition to the wife, is a foster daughter, Mrs. Ileen Stevens of Miami, Fla. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Sheldon Garriott officiated and burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery near Gessie. --typed by Walt W

Born March 5, 1879 the last and youngest son of Elias and Elizabeth Shoot Gouty. He was married to Maude Allen, who survives. Also surviving are a foster daughter, Mrs. Ileen Stevens, of Miami, Fla., six brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Sheldon Garriott, pastor of the Hillsboro Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery near Gessie. - jz
