Veedersburg – Mrs. Emma Gossett, 85, died Thursday morning in Peers Nursing Home, Mattoon, Ill, following an illness of two weeks. Born in Bloomingdale, she formerly operated a tea room and gift shop here. Her husband, Grant Gossett, preceded her in death as did two sons. She was a member of Christian Church and OES. Surviving is a half sister, Mrs. Martha Hutchins of Hillsboro. The body will be returned to Veedersburg. - kbz

Mrs. Emma Gossett, 85, died Thursday morning, December 25, at a nursing home at Mattoon, Illinois. Death was the result of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Born in Bloomingdale, Indiana, April 1, 1873, she was the daughter of Alfred and Sarah Huff Glawson. She moved to Veedersburg when a child.
She was married to Grant Gossett; who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gossett was a 50 year member of Valetta Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and the First Christian Church of Veedersburg. She formerly operated a millinery store, tea room, and gift shop here.
Surviving are a half sister, Mrs. Myrtle Hutchins of Hillsboro, two nieces and a nephew.
Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Parham Funeral Home with the Rev. George Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery. - jz
