Anton Keith Gose, 55, of Griffith, a former Covington resident, died at 5:27 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1979, at Billings Hospital in Chicago. He had been ill for some time.
He retired from Inland Steel Co. after 30 years. He was a member of the 25-year-club at the plant.
He was a charter member of the Dyer Little League. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Germany.
He attended Covington schools.
He had been a resident of Griffith since 1953.
Born May 22, 1923, in Covington, he was the son of Anton Simpson and Opal Cunningham Gose. On Jan. 11, 1946 he married Wilma “Billie” Fox, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Toni) Bice of Crown Point; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sheila Gose of Highland; three brothers, Marvin Gose and Fred Oliphant, both of Danville, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Anita Cousins of Perrysville Route 1, Mrs. Russell (Pauline) Lewis of Covington and Mrs. Morris (Joan) Rogers of Veedersburg Route 3; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Joan Gose, age 11, received a Purple Heart which had been awarded her brother, Pfc Anton Keith Gose, who was wounded in Germany Feb 19. Gose, 20 is serving with the 407th Infantry and has been oversease about a year. He was born and reared near Covington. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Gose are both deceased. The extent of his injuries are not known. Miss Gose makes her home with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Harris near Mellott.
