GOOKINS, Gerald

Gerald Gookins of Veedersburg, age 65, died Friday afternoon, March 27, at the home of a son, Carl Gene, in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he and his wife were visiting. He was born in Fountain County, July 20, 1915, the son of Harry and Mayme Leighty Gookins. June 9, 1939, he married Lois Albrecht. Gookins was a member of Veedersburg First Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge and AFL-CIO Local 157 in Terre Haute. He was a pipe fitter.

Also surviving are another son, Dwight of Hong Kong, China; a granddaughter Amy and a grandson Eric, both of Hong Kong.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. James Bushfield officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery. – thanks to S
