WEST LEBANON — Marie (Smith) Goodrick, age 85 of West Lebanon died at 6:25 p.m. EDT on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Waters of Covington. Marie was born on May 30, 1923 in Bismarck, Ill. She was the daughter of Lee R. and Lola Belle (Claypool) Smith. Marie graduated from West Lebanon High School and then attended business school in Lafayette. She was a resident of Warren County most of her life. On December 12, 1942 she married Richard E. Goodrick in West Lebanon. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2002. Marie worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Seeger Memorial High School for 20 years retiring in 1985. She was an active member of the West Lebanon Christian Church where she had served as Sunday school teacher and treasurer for many years. Marie loved her flowers and growing roses. She was a world class cook and baker, and was known for her legendary butterscotch pies. Surviving are a daughter, Connie (Don) Mikel of Covington, three sisters Louise (Robert) Overpeck of West Lebanon, Virginia (Boyd) Crone of Williamsport, and Joyce (Jim) Marble of Robinson, Ill., three brothers Robert (Pat) Smith of Danville, Ill., Lowell (Betty) Smith of Bismarck, Ill. and Donald (Joyce) Smith of Alvin, Ill., three grandsons, Jeff (Katie) Mikel of Danville, Ill., Greg Goodrick of Covington, Brock (Mandy) Goodrick of Georgetown, Ky., three granddaughters, Angie (Russ) Purcell of Noblesville, Heidi (Rich) Zenor of Williamsport, Pam Mikel of Noblesville, nine great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Beth Ann Goodrick of Covington. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, son, Terry Goodrick, and infant sister, Imogene Smith. Services will be at the West Lebanon Christian Church on Monday, June 9 at 11 a.m. EDT with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery.
