Mrs. Gooding Of Waynetown Dies

WAYNETOWN- Myrta Ellen Gooding, 84, died at 9:18 a.m. Sunday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Earl French, after a four-week illness. She was born Nov. 2, 1877, southwest of Wallace in Fountain County, a daughter of Isaac and Ellen Philpott Davis. She married Lonnie Gooding at Cates March 11, 1897. He died July 10, 1960. Mrs. Gooding was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church. She lived all her live in Fountain and Montgomery Counties. Surviving Mrs. Gooding are three sons, Bernice of Rt. 4 Crawfordsville, Leland of Waynetown and Leonard of Bremen; three daughters, Mrs. Mary French of Waynetown, Mrs. Lucy Branson of Chicago and Mrs. Doris Myers of Rt. 1 Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Opal Reed of Greencastle, Mrs. Bessie Myler of Sidel, Ill., and Mrs. Minnie Watson of Wallace, and two brothers, Charlie Davis of Kingman and Albert Davis of Crawfordsville. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys; a grandson, Austin Gooding, and two brothers and a sister. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Servies Funeral Home, Rev. John R. Servies will officiate, and burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday.

The mother of Mrs. Doris Myers, of near Hillsboro, Mrs. Myrta Ellen Gooding, 84, died Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Earl French, of Waynetown, after a four weeks illness.
She was born, Nov. 2, 1877, at Wallace, daughter of Isaac and Ellen Philpott Davis.  She married Lonnie Gooding at Cates in 1897.  He died in 1960.  She was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church.
Survivors are three sons, Bernice, Crawfordsville; Leland, Waynetown; and Leonard, Bremen; three daughters, Mrs. Mary French, Waynetown; Mrs. Lucy Branson, of Chicago and Mrs. Myers, Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Opal Reed, of Greencastle, Mrs. Bessie Myler, of Sidell, Ill. and Mm. Minnie Watson, of Wallace and two brothers, Charles Davis, of Kingman and Albert Davis, of Crawfordsville.
Funeral services were held at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. John R. Servies officiating and burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  - jz
