WILLIAMSPORT— Enoch D. “E. D.” Gooden age 88 of Williamsport died at 7:35 a. m. on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica. E. D. was born on May 17, 1920 in Roberts, Fountain County. He was the son of James and Leona Mae (Carswell) Gooden. E. D. had resided in Warren County for most of his life and was a 1938 graduate of West Lebanon High School. On May 11, 1940 he married Joy Clark in the West Lebanon Christian Church. She survives. E. D. farmed for many years in Warren County. He served on the West Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department for 36 years and was Fire Chief for several years. E. D. had served as Pike Township Trustee and Warren County Commissioner for several years. He was a member of F & AM Lodge 352 West Lebanon, where he received his 50 year pin. E. D. was a charter member of the West Lebanon Lions Club and Tri County Fire Association. He was a member of the Indiana Association of Counties. He had served on the first school board at Seeger High School. E. D. was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in West Lebanon. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and boating. E. D. never met a stranger. He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving with his wife, Joy, are three daughters, Karen (Les) Geisert of West Lebanon, Sharon (Ron) Shelby of Houston, Texas, and Jill (Dave) Bonebrake of Greencastle, a brother, John (Rosann) Gooden of West Lebanon, six grandchildren, Dianne (Mike) Owens, Gary (Deanna) Geisert, Alicia (Mark) Adams, Kim Shelby, Ryan (Emily) Bonebrake, and Nichole (Adam) Knoll and 12 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jacob, Caleb, Shayla, Sadie, Shelby, Robert, Brandon, Randy, Garrett, Ethan, and All. E. D. was preceded in death by a son, Gary Gooden, granddaughter, Kathy Geisert, two brothers, Henry Gooden and Jim Gooden, two half-sisters, Sue Sabbia, and Charlene Arent. Services will be on Monday, August 4 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Shelby and Rev. Roger McDaniel officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery.
