Veedersburg—Kathleen Goode, 16, Linden High School yell leader, was killed in an automobile accident Friday night while on the way to the Linden-Covington game at Covington.
Three other persons were injured, but none were thought to be serious.
The accident occurred at the intersection of State Road 34 and U.S. 41 south of here.
Slick pavement was blamed for the accident.
Officials said the accident occurred when the Goode car, occupied by Charles and the two girls and traveling west on State Road 34, slid into an automobile driving south of U.S. 41 by Bruens, Terre Haute beverage salesman.
Kathleen was killed instantly. Her body and the Dowell girl were thrown from their car and Bruens was found lying face down in a pool of water. Both vehicles were hurled onto the lawn in front of the Indiana State Highway Garage, when the Goode auto struck a heavy post.
Kathleen was born Aug. 2, 1932 in Jackson Township. She was the daughter of Alfred and Lillian Martin Goode, who live six miles east of Linden.
She attended grade school in Jackson Township, then went to Linden High School when a freshman. A junior this year, she had served as yell leader two years, was in the Glee Club, and was active in all scholastic activities.
Mr. and Mrs. Goode were attending the Waynetown vs. New Market game at the time of the accident. They were notified of their daughter’s death at the game. Surviving besides the parents and the brother is a sister, Mrs. Howard McCurdy.- thanks to S&E

Linden—Funeral services for Miss Kathleen Goode, high school student and the school’s yell leader, who met death in an automobile accident near Veedersburg Friday evening, were conducted from the Linden Methodist Church Monday afternoon. Rev. B. K. Johnson, the pastor, assisted by Rev. Anderson of the Jackson Heights Methodist Church had charge of the services. Mrs. Forest Edwards played selections on the organ before and after the services. Pallbearers were Morris Smith, Bill Kindell, Bud Kitsmiller, Bob Vail, LaVon Vannice and Myron Deckard, members of the Linden basketball squad and her class in high school. All the members of the junior and senior classes of the school assisted with the many floral tributes. Burial was made in the Linden Cemetery.- thanks to S&E

Delphi - Mr. and Mrs. Howard McCarty have been at Linden several days, called there by the death of the latter’s sister, Kathleen Goode, 15-year-old Linden HS yell leader who was killed in an automobile accident. The car in which she was riding was driven by her brother. Mr. McCarty is the new Carroll County agricultural agent. - kbz
