Wingate - Charles M. Goff, 83, retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Wingate community, died at his home in Wingate at midnight Tuesday. He had been ill for the past 8 weeks with a cardiac decomposition. Mr. Goff was born near Wingate Dec 23, 1869, the son of Edward and Mary Shelly Goff. He was married on his 22nd birthday Dec 23, 1891 to Matie Alexander of Elmdale. Mrs. Goff died July 10, 1924. He was remarried Sept 9, 1947 to Mrs. Lizzie Rhoton of Kentucky at New Market. Mr. Goff was a member of the former Primitive Baptist Church of Elmdale. Survivors include the widow; five daughters - Mrs. Pearl Graves, RFD 7, Terre Haute; Mrs. Marian Quick, RFD 3, Vincennes; Mrs. Gladys Works, Beach Grove and Mrs. Olive Rauch also of Romney. There are also 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his two stepson and three stepdaughters; his half-brother, Ray Goff, Linden Mines, Mo; and Mrs. Cora Tingley Detroit. Friends may call at the family home in Wingate after 4 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be conucted at the Wingate Christian Church at 2 p.m. Friday in charge of the Rev. Mr. Fisher of Greencastle assisted by Rev. Guy Tremaine of Waynetown and Rev. Warren Braden of WIngate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. - kbz
